Sennheiser Acquires Microphones.Asia
A few weeks back when reading through the weekly DN Journal sales report I noticed Microphones.Asia had changed hands for 1190€.
I thought that was a bit of a steal at the time. I just checked Microphones.Asia and it now redirects to http://www.sennheiser.com
If I was the previous owner of that name I would be a little bit cheesed to see the new owner is a large German conglomerate with a long history in the audio industry (Founded 1945 / Revenue 300 Million € in 06).
Welcoming another corporate to the ranks adopting .Asia

Thats smart business buy the new owner shame about the previous owner not trying harded for a better price but if he was happy with that figure it isnt such a bad thing.
To many people in our industry are Greedy!
Regards,
Robbie
Funny post, it’s not because Bill Gates have billions he should pay his coffee cup thousands dollars.
All has a normal price range, and according to the domain metrics and the nature of the name, trust me, thid domain has been sold for a very fair price.
Also even if it was a dot com, all depend of the use of the domain and the plus value is expected of his use… IBM is not paying each domain he acquire hundred thousands dollars, nor Dell, nor Bank Of America, nor …
Hi Francois,
I think a lot of people who invested in .Asia are still asking themself, “Is anybody going to use these names….are they worth anything”
I think the fact corporates are buying them is a strong signal. I also think it reflects on the value. If Sennheiser wants Microphones.Asia, Maybe AKG wants it, maybe Sure wants it also. Maybe sweetwater.com wants it. But I think the fact that one of the worlds largest microphone manufacturers wants it is a strong indicator of demand, which should naturally influence the price.
I would encourage owners of .Asia who get offers in the aftermarket to aim high.
I really think .asia will become more and more prevalent. The eating up of .com and the availability of .asia will help make it an easy decision. I also think people underestimate the though and planning that went into this domain as a branding idea. Asia is not one place in particular it is a branded group of places.
